a5c7b9f00b When news magnate James Reid dies, his son Britt and chauffeur Kato, resentful of Reid's slights, vandalize a graveyard statue. By chance, they also rescue a couple from thugs, but TV reports the vandalism, not the heroism. Britt, thinking he's a genius while relying on Kato's mechanical and kung-fu skills, decides to be a superhero, the Green Hornet, and use his father's paper to play up the bad-guy elements. The reporting on the Hornet upsets LA's DA, who's up for reelection, and the city's real crime boss, Chudnofsky. Plus, how long will Kato suffer in silence, when he has all the skill? Competition for the affection of Britt's assistant, Lenore, brings things to a head. Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team. What do you expect? Light entertainment? That's what you got. –- This is a movie, which is clearly not taking itself very seriously, but rather take some superheroes, comic, action and trash movies of the last decade and mix it to a surprisingly entertaining "flick". Some of the car chasing scenes ares boring, but some action scenes are innovative.

In the very best moments, the relationship between the two main actors (The "Green- Hornet"- Team (!)) could remind of the Closeau-Cato relationship - and, of course that's what they are aiming at… Yet, it falls short to deliver, because the acting of Seth Rogen gets lost in some immature "Hangover"-imitation…

Definitely only 2-3 stars ? *** for the dialogues. Way too much "Hey, Dude - this is awesome" - style, which may just satisfy the average suburban teenager - but it is too exaggerated. I would have even preferred a Terminator-style muteness compared to that jabbering flow of nonsense from the main character.

Nevertheless, most of the well-filled movie-theater in Berlin has been laughing throughout the film. This film was astonishingly awful - at nearly £20 ($35) to see with my son, it's the first time in a number of years that I have felt inclined to walk out of the theatre. Several other people did. It falls horribly between two or three stools - it's neither particularly funny, or exciting and lacks any merit for its martial arts content. If intendedany sort of homage to Bruce Lee, he must be spinning rapidly in his grave. Seth Rogen is just loud and unpleasant (crass, course, brash - I'm running out of suitable adjectives) -he so often seems to be in his films - and portrays an absolutely awful attitude towards women which is not redeemed by any saving graces. The only attribute of any merit in this film is Jay Chou - and simply because he looks a bit like Bruce Lee. The rest of the cast are clearly going thru' the motions (and this movie is one big motion) simply for a pay cheque - lucky beggars: I wish I could sleep walk my way thru' my workday too. On the whole it was a couple of hours I would gladly not have had to live through. A big, boisterous action-comedy - a funny, exciting and intentionally goofy summer movie that just happens to arrive in the middle of January. It's best to let Rogen himself speak about this subject. From WorstPreviews.com: Seth Rogen, writer and co-star of the upcoming The Green Hornet, told Sci Fi Wire that the film will possess elements of both comedy and action. "To me, the two aren't mutually exclusive," said Rogen. "You can have a big action epic with a lot of funny parts." Green Hornet is a big-screen adaptation of the superhero franchise, which was adapteda popular 1960s television series and was inspired by the original radio program created in the 1930s. Hornet follows the adventures of Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's crusading newspaper, the Daily Sentinel. By night he is a masked hero, fighting crime with his sidekick, Kato, who has incredible martial-arts skills. Rogen, whose film projects to date have been primarily comedic in nature, said that the forthcoming update will evoke other action films that feature an undercurrent of humor. "I've seen the early 'Indiana Jones' movies in theaters, and they kill," Rogen said. "There's laughs throughout the whole thing, and it doesn't feel like a comedy per se. It just feels like something that's trying to solicit reactions from the audience, and we think of movies like 'True Lies' and stuff like that. That's more kind of what we're going for with this." Director Michel Gondry also has said this about the film's tone: "It's an action movie with some comedy in it. The action will be fast and furious and the comedy will come from the dynamic between Kato and Britt Reid." Reportedly, he stepped down to work on a superhero spoof comedy starring Jack Black.
